Performance Timing

Caffeine peaks 30–60 minutes after intake. For pre-workout boosts, dose 45 minutes before training at 3–6 mg per kg of body weight. For endurance events, smaller repeated doses (1–2 mg/kg every 60–90 minutes) sustain alertness without spiking jitters.

Sleep-Friendly Cutoffs

For an average metabolizer aiming for an 11 PM bedtime: stop caffeine by 1–3 PM. Slow metabolizers should cut off by noon. The goal is fewer than 50 mg in your system at bedtime — about half a small cup of coffee.

Safe Daily Limits

The FDA considers up to 400 mg per day safe for healthy adults. Pregnant individuals should stay under 200 mg. Adolescents should limit intake to under 100 mg. Anyone with anxiety, atrial fibrillation, or hypertension should consult a clinician.
